Mercury is currently retrograde from December 19th, 2016 until January 8th, 2017!
(if you read this after January 8th, 2017 check here to find out when Mercury is retrograde next).
What does that mean for you and your life and business?
Mercury rules communication, contracts, agreements, codes (i.e. computer code), transportation, shipping, travel, automobiles etc.
Things that might go wrong or happen to you during Mercury retrograde:
• you miss a train or plane connection
• your car breaks down
• your computer crashes (do you have a recent back-up ready?)
• you are late for meetings/appointments no matter how early you leave
• you are more forgetful
• communicating is harder
• listening seems harder
• misunderstandings happen
Mercury’s retrograde periods can cause your plans to go awry. So try to be flexible, allow time for extra travel, and avoid signing important contracts. You can review projects and plans, but wait until Mercury is direct again to make any final decisions.
Clutter Clearing during Mercury retrograde?
While you shouldn’t make any important moves, Mercury retrograde is an excellent time to reflect on the past. This means it’s an excellent time for Clutter Clearing, finishing started projects (also a type of clutter), and letting go of limiting beliefs (internal clutter).
Most people think Clutter Clearing is about organizing but it’s actually more about exploring and reflecting on the stories we tell ourselves, the ones that keep us stuck. Clutter Clearing can get you unstuck and getting organized is simply a nice side-effect.
Mercury in retrograde gives you an extra boost to sweep out all that (internal and external) clutter.
The perfect use of this time right now is therefore, to reflect on 2016 and finish everything up. On the other hand, don’t start anything new yet otherwise you might regret it later.
- don’t make important decisions
- don’t sign important contracts
- don’t finalize any important plans
Goals and New Years Resolutions
And of course for people that are setting goals or make New Years Resolutions: don’t make them until January 9th, 2017, when “the spook” is over.
In addition, if your goal or resolution is about quitting a bad habit, be patient and wait until the next New Moon (Jan 27 or 28 depending on where you live, check here). Starting to combat a bad habit on a New Moon will ensure your chances of success will be even better, since
New Moon days are the most ideal to stop and replace bad habits with better ones.
Paying attention of Mercury retrograde periods will allow you to avoid a lot of frustrations and disappointments and in return can increase your productivity.
You might be tempted to put this all off as nonsense but once you begin to pay attention to what happens to you during these phases you might revise your opinion. Let me know in the comments below your experience with Mercury retrograde.
