Growing from Grief and Loss. While we all are taught how to acquire things, we don't really know what to do when we lose something.
Grief is normal and natural, and probably the most powerful of all emotions, but it's also the most misunderstood experience.. Misunderstaood often by everyone involved, the person who's grieving and everyone around that person.
We don't learn it anywhere, we learn all kinds of stuff in school, even what has happened 500 or 1000 years ago but we don't learn how to deal with something so normal and common as grief. And chances are, that your parents didn't know how to handle and move through grief so they couldn't teach you either.
That's why I have invited Jennifer Waugh to the podcast, an Advanced Certified Grief Recovery Specialist. Jen's calling is helping women work through the pain, isolation and loneliness caused by a painful loss of any kind. Jen knows the pain of grief first hand from losing her husband to a sudden heart attack back in 2012.
We are talking about
- myths around grief,
- what grieving people actually do want and need,
- how to help children through grief.
.... so when that happened in 2012, it kind of turned life upside down. But quite early on I had this sense that my training as a coach, that I had that for a reason, that I was meant to do something with that training and passion.
So I have been on that path using a combination of my coaching background and experience and I developed that further and really began to specialize in working with widowed moms who have children, to be able to navigate loss and grief.
Helping with grief is not wanting to fix it for other people but just to be with someone through these intense emotions ~Jennifer Waugh
